Crockpot Stuffing Recipe

  • Author: Abra Recipes
  • Total Time: 4 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Description

This Crockpot Stuffing is a buttery, herb-filled slow cooker recipe that brings all the classic holiday flavors without the oven hassle. With tender bread cubes, savory vegetables, and aromatic herbs, it’s the perfect make-ahead side dish for Thanksgiving or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup butter
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons poultry seasoning
  • 2 medium yellow onions, diced
  • 2 cups sliced celery
  • 6 cups dry white bread cubes
  • 6 cups dry brown bread cubes
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon fresh herbs (thyme, sage, rosemary)
  • 3 cups chicken broth (plus up to 1 extra cup if needed)
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Melt the Butter and Sauté: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir in onions and celery and cook until softened but not browned. Remove from heat and cool completely.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, add dried bread cubes, cooled vegetables, parsley, and herbs. Toss to mix evenly.
  3. Add Broth Gradually: Pour in chicken broth a little at a time while gently stirring. The mixture should be moist but not soggy. Stir in eggs.
  4. Fill the Slow Cooker: Lightly grease a 5–6 quart Crockpot. Spoon in the stuffing mixture and cover.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Cook on high for 30 minutes, then reduce to low and cook for 3–4 hours, until hot and cooked through. The edges will be golden, and the center soft and flavorful.
  6. Serve Warm: Keep the Crockpot on the “Warm” setting until ready to serve. Garnish with extra herbs before serving if desired.

Notes

  • Always dry the bread before starting for the best texture.
  • If the stuffing becomes too moist, add a handful of dry bread cubes or croutons to balance it.
  • Prepare up to 24 hours ahead and refrigerate in the Crockpot insert for easy cooking the next day.
  • Try adding sausage or apples for a fun flavor variation.
