This berry fruit salad is a fresh, four-ingredient bowl of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries tossed with a single teaspoon of sugar. Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered lengthwise
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 cup fresh blackberries
- 1 cup fresh raspberries
- 1 teaspoon white sugar (substitute: raw honey or agave syrup)
Instructions
- Rinse and Dry the Berries: Rinse all four berry varieties under cold running water in a colander. Pat thoroughly dry with paper towels, surface water dilutes the natural syrup the sugar will draw out.
- Prep the Strawberries: Hull each strawberry and quarter it lengthwise so the pieces are roughly the same size as the other berries. Leave blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries whole.
- Layer the Bowl: Place blueberries and blackberries at the base of a large wide bowl, then add raspberries and strawberries on top to protect the most delicate fruit.
- Add the Sugar: Sprinkle the teaspoon of white sugar evenly across the surface of the berry fruit salad.
- Fold Gently: Using a wide spatula, fold the berries upward from the bottom with two to three slow, deliberate passes. Do not stir in circles, raspberries will break apart.
